Globe in Space Is the Lie: Dome Is Truth?

#50: The floating disc Earth in space is the lie; the real model is a domed flat world with Sun, Moon, stars, and firmament inside, labelled "Truth."

The Meme

Two panels: top "This is NOT Flat Earth", pancake Earth in stars labelled "Lie"; bottom "This IS Flat Earth", enclosed dome diagram with Sun, Moon, firmament, and "Our 'Domed' World."

Why It Spreads

The two-panel format flips the usual globe meme: a pancake Earth in stars labelled "Lie" on top, a glowing domed enclosure labelled "Truth" below. Dome art looks biblical and certain, especially for viewers who already treat space photos as cartoons and want the enclosed model to feel like the sober correction.

What It Gets Wrong

The two panels mislabel a pancake disc-in-space cartoon as NOT Flat Earth while presenting an illustrated enclosed dome with Sun, Moon, firmament, and Truth as the real model, but a decorative snow-globe sketch is not a map. Southern circumpolar stars, 24-hour Antarctic summer sun, long-haul southern-ocean flight times, and satellite orbits fit a spheroid model that the dome diagram cannot predict for eclipse geometry, ISS pass times, or GNSS positioning. Replacing field measurements with a lit-up enclosure diagram is inconsistent with routing and star-field checks that work on a globe. TestTheGlobe's The Firmament Dome Is Not Real and TestTheGlobe's Star Visibility and Latitude walk through the observations and predictions this image skips.

The Debunk

Southern star trails and southern-hemisphere flight durations predict a spherical Earth; those fit observation. The domed plate diagram labelled "Truth" is inconsistent with routing, eclipse, and star-field checks that work on a globe. Use TestTheGlobe's Star Visibility and Latitude to compare the meme's claim with a measurable prediction.

  • Southern circumpolar stars rotate around a southern celestial pole; TestTheGlobe's Star Visibility and Latitude shows the pattern only a sphere predicts.
  • TestTheGlobe's Star Visibility and Latitude: sunrise times and shadow angles across longitudes require spherical geometry, not a local dome lamp a few thousand kilometres up.
  • The bottom panel is an illustrated enclosed dome diagram with Sun, Moon, and firmament labels, a model sketch, not a field measurement of Earth's shape.
  • TestTheGlobe's The Firmament Dome Is Not Real walks through why a decorative enclosure diagram does not predict eclipse geometry or satellite pass times.
